CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Cafe Selmarie, a decades-old cafe in Lincoln Square, will officially move out at the end of the month and make way for a new local business.

Cafe Selmarie has been part of Lincoln Square for four decades.

By May, though, the space, located on Lincoln Avenue just south of Lawrence Avenue, will be home to Willow Cafe and Bistro.

Willow Cafe and Bistro’s owner — who also owns the Lincoln Square Taproom — said he hopes to “carry on the tradition of great food and community” after Cafe Selmarie.

Cafe Selmarie opened in 1983. It was home to the first espresso machine in the neighborhood and often displayed local art and included recipes from the cafe's own employees.

On Facebook, the Selmarie team asked its customers to give Willow Cafe and Bistro a chance to make their own mark on Lincoln Square.
