(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Little Amal, a 12-foot-tall puppet that represents a 10-year-old Syrian refugee, visited Jordan Community Elementary School in Rogers Park Friday afternoon.
“Little Amal represents hope amongst many children around the world,” says Octavio Sanchez, an art teacher at Jordan Community Elementary.
The puppet is walking across the nation, from Boston to San Diego, to raise money for refugee children. Amal has traveled to 15 countries and nearly 100 cities across the world.

“She has been traveling all around the world visiting many towns and cities, and we are so privileged to have her here,” says Sanchez.
Students and community members came out to meet Amal and celebrate her arrival.
