CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Lurie Children's Hospital is making progress in getting back online after a criminal threat took their system down.
The hospital announced in an update that operations are starting to resume after a cyberattack on January 31 that caused much chaos.
"As an academic medical center, our systems are highly complex, and these incidents can take time to resolve. Our network systems’ restoration is ongoing and progressing,"
The hospital's inbound and outbound e-mail to and from external e-mail addresses has been restored and a majority of phone lines have also been restored.
Patient portal MyChart remains offline, so the call center continues to be the best way for patient families to reach providers and service lines. The call center can be reached at 1-800-543-7362, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The call center is closed on Sunday. During the hours the call center is closed, patient families are asked to call the main operator at 312-227-4000. Due to the high volume of calls, the hospital advises people to call back if they receive a busy signal.
Patients scheduled for procedures and appointments at all locations are still being asked to arrive as scheduled unless their care provider contacts them directly to reschedule.
The FBI is still investigating the attack.
