CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Mayor Brandon Johnson voted this morning in his West Side neighborhood and was feeling pretty confident the nation would elect the first woman president.

Forget the election anxiety many are talking about, the mayor said he’s excited.

“I don’t typically behave or operate in anxiety,” the mayor said. “I’ve actually captured a great deal of  excitement. I’ve had a chance to stump for Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Walz in five, I believe, of the six or seven battleground states, and there were literally early voting lines swinging around the neighborhood…A great deal of excitement, there’s a reason to be excited.”

Johnson, a former social studies teacher, said this is the most consequential election in a lifetime. He said Johnson the first thing he thought of while voting for Harris was his daughter and how excited she is.

The mayor voted in a polling place in an apartment building at Lake and Parkside in the Austin neighborhood.
