CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago’s Merchandise Mart will be the canvas for two new Art on the Mart displays debuting Thursday night.

Each show will be projected onto the 2-and-a-half-acre art deco facade of the Merchandise Mart and, as always, the show will be free to view.

In keeping with the 2022’s “Year of Dance” theme, the first project is called “Trap Moulin Rouge.” The piece,  from Jasmin Taylor, showcases vibrant Black culture and dance that emanates from Chicago’s South Side.

“Love Letters” is the second visual piece. It’s created by Chinese-born, Chicago-based artist Yuge Zhou.

Zhou’s work portrays a courtship dance between two urban dwellers searching for each other through a labyrinth of colorful geometry.

Art on the Mart Showtimes are at 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. each night.
