NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Dawn Frankowski was sentenced to 18 months of probation on Wednesday.

The Naperville resident pleaded guilty in August to misdemeanor parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.

Federal prosecutors say the 54-year-old entered the U.S. Capitol during the January 6 riot last year and walked into U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley’s office and the Senate Spouse’s Lounge.

Frankowski apologized to a U.S. District Court Judge this week, saying she took full responsibility for her actions.

During an interview with the FBI last year, records show she again acknowledged her decision to enter the Capitol.

“Probably shouldn’t have, but whatever,” she allegedly said.

In addition to probation, Frankowski was sentenced to 100 hours of community service.
