CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The National Weather Service is warning of the possibility of flash flooding through Tuesday night and is confirming four tornadoes last weekend.
The National Weather Service said the ground is so saturated that it wouldn’t take much rain to cause a flash flood. The weather service said thunderstorms with torrential downpours will take place off and on Tuesday, with a flash flood watch until later Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service confirmed four low-level tornadoes touched down last weekend, with the one in Danforth in Iroquois County being the strongest at an EF-1 with winds of 95 miles an hour. The other three twisters in Crete, Dyer, and Chatsworth were EF-0s.
Governor Pritzker is defending his decision to not to visit Woodridge and Naperville during tornado clean-up there.
"In the early days of clean-up and taking care of those whose houses, whose property were damaged, not to mention the people who were injured, sometimes inappropriate to create a distraction by having a high-level official show up just for a visual tour," Pritzker said.
"We have provided a resource center for every person who lives in the affected areas. That provides some of them, who are unfortunately without a home right now, with some resources," he added.
Meanwhile, the City of Chicago suggests residents take action to avoid getting water in their basements, like disconnecting rain downspouts from the sewer system.
