(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The new head of the Kane County Board says she hopes to usher in a new atmosphere in county government.
Corinne Pierog is the first Democrat to chair the board since it became an elected post back in the 1990s. She notes that she’s the second woman.
But Pierog said party affiliation doesn’t matter when you talk about water service and whether streets are plowed. She hopes to govern in a bipartisan manner.
So what will make a difference? Pierog said because she and other women were elected to the Board this year, and she expects a more collaborative government.
Women tend to listen to different ideas, she said, perhaps because they’re used to raising families and getting everyone to cooperate.
Pierog is the guest on “At Issue,” airing 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
