(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Health officials in Evanston say a cheap food deal for students at Northwestern University may have fueled a cluster of norovirus cases.

The Evanston Health and Human Services Department says they’ve been investigating an outbreak of cases in tandem with NU, after Big Wig Tacos and Burritos offered students a deal for $1 burritos on Nov. 18.

By Monday, the department said it had received numerous complaints from patrons about symptoms that included vomiting, nausea, stomach pain and diarrhea.

The restaurant was inspected and has been cooperating with the investigation, officials said.
