The piece is the first official painted portrait of former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama together.
"It's us and all of the stories within the story," Michelle Obama said when she saw the piece for the first time. "Oh my God, you got everything in there."
Titled "The Obamas: Springing Forth, 2026," the artwork combines photos from family albums and historic moments captured by the media.
It was painted by Njideka Akunyili Crosby.

"I did the drawing first of the two of you," she told the Obamas. "We read all your books, we listened to all the interviews you all have done, podcasts. My whole studio got to know you."
The Obama Foundation says the work "memorializes their journey to the White House while honoring their legacy for generations to come."
The piece will be on display in the museum's Hope and Change lobby, which is open to the public.
