CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Frustrated with more cancelled classes at Chicago Public Schools and the potential for going remote again, one northside family is weighing a move out of the city.
David Rice finds fault with both sides in the debate. He agrees with the Chicago Teachers Union that CPS should have held vaccination drives at schools, but calls some of the union’s COVID demands ridiculous.
"KN95 masks on children that have been vaccinated?", he questioned. "KN95 masks haven't even been tested on kids before and need to be specifically fitted."
Rice and his physician wife want their son back in the building at Audobon Elementary School in Roscoe Village. He said expecting a kindergartener to use a tablet for remote learning is unacceptable.
"It's worse than nothing, which is why I will refuse to do it," he said. "It's not remote learning. It's remote languishing."
He said they put their son in private school last school year and are seriously considering a move out of Chicago.
