(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Gov. JB Pritzker on Thursday said he's disappointed by the Gaza ceasefire resolution that received narrow approval by the Chicago City Council a day earlier.

Mayor Brandon Johnson's "yes" vote Wednesday broke a tie among aldermen, leading to passage for the resolution that calls for an immediate ceasefire and a release of hostages by Hamas. The vote capped a long and emotional debate among alders.

At an unrelated event in South Shore, Pritzker said the non-binding resolution probably would have no effect on American foreign policy.
He said he was disappointed with the wording.

“No consideration was given to the women who were raped by Hamas fighters who crossed over into Israel, kidnapped people …  the deaths that were caused by those terrorists were not acknowledged,” the governor said.

Pritzker is Jewish, and he and his family have made significant donations to the Illinois Holocaust Museum.
