
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Voters weighed in Tuesday on a variety of questions ranging from defunding the police to tax increases and to set term limits for local officials.
In Oak Park, in a non-binding referendum, nearly 70 percent of voters said they did not want to defund the police; while voters in Orland Township and Crestwood overwhelmingly said they wanted term limits for township officials.
Steger voters said no to increasing property taxes in order to increase fire department staffing from one full time and one part time firefighter to two.
Warren Township School District voters said no to increasing taxes in order to save sports programs and one class a day at its high school.
Meanwhile, voters in Lemont Elementary District 113A decided in effect not to lower their property taxes so the district could make the needed changes to deal with increasing enrollment.
And, voters in Frankfort supported the idea of having the park district buy a site to develop a recreation center, as well as to have outdoor athletic facilities.
