CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — While the Biden administration is moving to deport Haitians gathered at the southern border, a sculpture honoring migrants and refugees on display at Loyola University gets blessed by a Vatican leader.
Cardinal Michael Czerny is undersecretary for the Vatican’s section for migrants and refugees and said people have wandered in search of a better life since Abraham and Sarah in the bible.
He said the sculpture Angels Unawares reminds Catholics to open their homes to them.
“Welcoming and that recognition that the stranger who knocks on our door probably has a special grace a special message for us from God,” Czerny told WBBM Newsradio.
The church has been celebrating the world day of migrants and refugees for over a century.
Czerny blessed the sculpture which has been touring the country before heading to its permanent location in Washington, D.C. later next month.
