A 16-year-old Wheaton boy was killed Friday in a crash.
Holden Wight, according to police, was the sole occupant of a car that hit a light pole at the intersection of Butterfield and Orchard roads at about 5 p.m. Wight was a junior at Wheaton Warrenville South High School.
The Daily Herald reported Principal Scott McDermott sent an email to parents.
"Losing a member of our school community is incredibly tragic, sad and very difficult to comprehend," the email stated. "Our hearts and prayers are with Holden's family and friends."
Counselors were being made available to classmates.
The principal also wrote, "Processing this tragedy will certainly take time."
