The newest Republican candidate to unseat Governor Pritzker says he can succeed where others have failed.
Wirepoints founder Ted Dabrowski formally entered the Republican race for governor Friday morning during a campaign event on the front lawn of his house in Wilmette on Chicago's North Shore.
Dabrowski told supporters that his years as a public policy researcher -- which began at the conservative Illinois Policy Institute -- have given him insight into what he believes is not working in Illinois, and how the state can be made better
"I know how the sausage is made, and why it tastes so bad," Dabrowski said after being introduced by his mother to cheers from supporters.
He said Governor Pritzker's policies have made the state less prosperous and less educated, and accused him of sometimes extreme and reckless rhetoric: "Pritzker may believe his conduct advances his presidential ambitions, but I think Illinois families are ready for responsible leadership that advances their ambitions."
Back in 2022, the Democratic Governors Association - with donations from Pritzker - spent millions of dollars on ads to affect the outcome of the Republican primary. But Dabrowski says he's not intimidated: "We are and will be well-funded. Illinoisans have Pritzker fatigue, and they're looking for a credible alternative."
Dabrowski joins several other candidates, including DuPage County sheriff James Mendrick, ... and possibly 2022 nominee Darren Bailey.
