Woman dead, two others in critical condition after South Side shootings

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two shootings on South Side streets Monday night left one woman dead and two others in critical condition.

 According to Chicago police the victims were among seven people shot in less than eight hours, between 5:30 p.m. and 1 a.m. this morning.

Chicago police said a 17-year old girl was driving along 95th Street shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday night when a dark colored vehicle pulled up next to her near Chicago State University and began shooting. The girl was hit in the head and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.

Less than three hours earlier in the Canaryville community two people were shot as they were driving in the 700 block of West Root. Again, a car pulled up next to their vehicle and opened fire. The 18-year old woman who was driving was killed. The Medical Examiner’s Office identifies her as Myesha Jackson. Her 21-year old male passenger was critically wounded.

No one is in custody in either.
