PEORIA, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Peoria woman has convinced nearly two dozen people to move to the city, accidentally stumbling on what could become a new career.

Angie Ostaszewski was trying to convince her siblings to move to Peoria and she started posting videos on TikTok showcasing real estate.

"Hi, my name is Angie and I'm not a realtor, but I live in super affordable Peoria, Illinois and we think you should live here too," Ostaszewski said in the video.

Her videos, according to WMBD in Peoria, have convinced 23 people to move there, strangers.

Mariela Munguia was among those who moved to Peoria after watching her videos. She came from Washington state.

"It was her tagline, 'And, I live in super affordable Peoria, Illinois.' I want to know about like super affordable housing,” Munguia said.

Ostaszewski's hobby caught the attention of Congresswoman Cheri Bustos.

"I think it's absolutely phenomenal that we've got a state here that has lost population, and we've got somebody who's trying to address that one person at a time. She's on to something," Bustos said.

Ostaszewski, who is 30, said she's thinking of becoming a realtor. And yes, she did convince her siblings to move to Peoria as well.
