NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 38-year-old driver was shot multiple times near the Jackie Robinson Parkway in Queens early Thursday amid a road rage encounter that turned violent.

The gunfire rang out on Cypress Hill Street near Cypress Avenue in Glendale around 5:45 a.m.

The victim was driving when he got into a verbal argument with a passenger in a white Acura sedan, according to police.

Both then continued driving, and when they came to a stop at a red light, police told WABC 7 that the passenger yelled "you cut us off" before shots were fired.

The driver was shot multiple times in the back, but was eventually treated and released. The suspects fled the scene.

No arrests have been made.
