During the Falcons/ Eagles game on Sunday Night Football, it was apparent Falcons punter Matt Bosher was seriously hurt. The team had kicker Matt Bryant and wide receiver Mohammad Sanu preparing to possibly punt or kickoff if Bosher wasn't avaiable. On Monday, Dan Quinn said the team would wait until later in the week to possibly sign a punter if it looked liked Bosher would not be able to go.
The Falcons signed punter Matt Wile on Friday to kickoff, hold for field goals , and punt. Wile won the punter job in Minnesota in 2018 and was cut after training camp this year due because the team felt he couldn't hold for field goals. Wile also doesn't have experience with kickoffs in the NFL.
So, the Falcons signed a punter who is inexperienced with kickoffs and suspect on holding for field goals. Former Georgia punter Cameron Nizialek, who recently punted in Atlanta for the now defunt Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football League. Nizialek showed at Georgia and with the Legends that he could punt in the big leagues. Why not sign him?
D Orlando Ledbetter joined Sam Crenshaw and talked about not only the troubles of Matt Wile, but of Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri, who has had trouble kicking so far this year.
