Last night Max Fried took the mound for the Braves as the young pitcher got his first start of the season and did not disappoint. Fried went six shutout innings, while striking out five Cubs and was perfect through five innings, the guys wonder if we just saw the young southpaws coming out party.

Carl said that last night Fried had the Cubs guessing in what could have been his coming out party.

“Last night could be the coming out party for him to be a professional.” Dukes said “He had control, he had great stuff, Brian McCann even said that when he was warming up that he felt they could do anything they wanted last night. The key last night was he didn’t walk anybody, when you have that kind of control, you have the other lineup guessing, and when you look at that Cubs lineup it’s top to bottom one of the best lineups you will see and he handled them.”

Mike talked about Fried being the only one early in the season that he trusts in the rotation.

“The curveball’s not even supposed to be one of his best pitchers.” Bell said “Max Fried was dealing, he should be a starter, he’s 25 years of age, he doesn’t seem to get rattled so let him work as a starter and figure the rest out. Who else do you trust right now, who else have you seen in the rotation right now that you trust more? ”
