The Georgia Bulldogs have not looked like the dominant team that we saw in 2021 or 2022 when the team won back-to-back National Championships, and they really haven’t even looked as good as last year’s team did. This year’s Bulldogs team has shown flashes of greatness, but has been wildly inconsistent. Why? Well, Co-Owner and Publisher of Dawgs HQ Rusty Mansell told The Morning Shift why Georgia has struggled and been inconsistent this season.

“You don’t have the depth.” That was the first thing Rusty Mansell said, and it’s become clear that Georgia just doesn’t have the caliber of talent that they had during those championship seasons, and Rusty talked to the Morning Shift about that as well.

“Right now they don’t have NFL first rounders. They have guys that are pretty good, but they don’t have NFL first rounders and when you can do that and what they’ve had you do take a step back and then the schedule is there, and I’ve kind of said that from the start I don’t know where this team is going to go. They’ve got an 85 man roster enough to win the national championship if things work out for them, but this wasn’t a 2022 alpha dominating team.” Mansell said.

Rusty finished up his thought by saying “1 through 85 this is not as deep a team as Georgia has had, especially from ‘21 to ‘22 when you go look at those rosters and see those guys.”
Georgia’s struggles and inconsistent play is simply because they don’t have the great talent that they’ve had in years past, in the trenches or at skill positions, they’ve been dealing with some injuries just as all teams do, and they’ve had to kick some guys who would’ve been key contributors off the team for off the field incidents as well like Ra-Ra Thomas.

It all boils down to after a great run where Georgia captured back-to-back National Championships the Dawgs are having a down year this season, and that’s something all teams have to deal with. Now, it’s just a question of how quickly can Kirby Smart put together another dominant championship contending team like he put together in 2021 and 2022.
