At 37, Rashard Mendenhall is the youngest Super Bowl Steeler alive

Steelers Nation is still reeling from another one-and-done playoff appearance.

It’s now been nine seasons since the team even won a playoff game and 17 years since the last Super Bowl victory.

Enter former Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall to throw in some more perspective and salt in the wound.

Posting on “X”, the former first-round running back said he’s currently the youngest Steelers player alive with a Super Bowl ring.

And, that’s true. At 37-years-old (21 for Super Bowl LXIII) Mendenhall is the youngest.

He also pointed out that he’s the last Steelers running back to have a ring.

True, but Willie Parker, Nejeh Davenport and Carey Davis also have rings.

While Mendenhall got a Super Bowl ring for being on the team in 2008 (injured reserve), he was the starting RB in 2010.

It was the first play of the fourth quarter, when Mendenhall fumbled near the Packers 40-yard line. The play swung the game toward Green Bay, the eventual winner.

Mendenhall has given controversial opinions over the past few years, including blaming quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
