The Padres would like to forget the first two games against the Dodgers in LA, as the team squandered leads in each of the first two games against their division rival. After jumping out to an early 6-0 lead on Friday, the Dodgers scored 12 unanswered runs to win 12-7. With a taxed bullpen, the Padres needed Michael King to pitch deep into the game on Saturday in the worst way, and he did just that, needing just 68 pitches to cruise through six scoreless frames while protecting a 3-0 lead. Craig Stammen brought King back out for the 7th inning to give his bullpen a break, but after allowing the first two batters of the inning to reach base, Stammen brought in Adrian Morejon to face lefty Kyle Tucker. Tucker hit a grounder to second base for what looked like a double play, but Jake Cronenworth booted the ball and wasn't able to get an out, loading the bases with no outs for Teoscar Hernandez, who blasted a go-ahead grand slam. It was a deflating turn of events that led to the Padres losing their seventh consecutive game. The Padres will try to avoid being swept on Sunday when Griffin Canning takes the mound.
