The Padres ended their 8-game losing streak with a 5-2 win over the Dodgers on Sunday evening. JP Sears delivered his best start of the season for the Padres, hurling five scoreless frames while allowing just one hit. The Padres carried a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the 7th inning after scoring four runs in the top of the inning, punctuated by Manny Machado's 3-run home run. After Bradgley Rodriguez issued a leadoff walk, he struck out Alex Call before being relieved by Adrian Morejon. The Padres' star-lefty allowed back-to-back singles and a run, before striking out Tommy Edman. With two outs and two on, Shohei Ohtani drove in a second run with a bloop single to center field. Morejon then stuck out Andy Pages to get out of the jam. Morejon returned to breeze through the 8th inning before Mason Miller retired the side in order to record his 22nd save of the season. The Padres return home on Monday to host the Diamondbacks.
