The head coach of the DW Daniel High School football team has been placed on leave.
The School District of Pickens County confirmed that Head Coach Chris Stone is on leave while district officials investigate a fight on July 7th as several Daniel High School players beat another player at a football camp being held at Presbyterian College in Laurens County.
A video of that fight in the dorm room is at the center of the investigation with several players possibly facing criminal charges. The family of the boy that was beaten has hired an attorney to represent them in the case.
The District has said it is following its own disciplinary policies, High School League guidelines and cooperating with Laurens County law enforcement in the investigation.
None of those involved have been identified by District officials due to federal student privacy laws.
