A now former South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper and his wife are facing charges after the death of a child. SLED says 30 year old, Joshua Emanuel Lamar Latimer and his wife 24 year old, Destiny Shay Dionne were arrested Friday for unlawful neglect of a child.
The charges come after EMS personnel responded to a home on Forest Acres Drive in Walhalla, just before 6:30AM Friday. The Oconee County Coroner's Office was called to the scene after a 4 year old boy died from cardiac arrest.
Arrest warrants say Latimer and Dionne accused of placing a two-and-four-year-old child at “risk of unreasonable harm.” The South Carolina Department of Public Safety says that Latimer has been fired from the Highway Patrol following his arrest.
