Compared to this time last year, seeing anyone anywhere, let alone confined to a movie theater is a big leap. Which besides the normal pressures of work, life, etc. can also bring about stress.
In Hayek's case, she’s found a unique way to manage the stress life can throw her way, and that’s through - owl meditation. Meditation - sure, a totally common self-care ritual for many. But it’s the owl part that has us scratching our heads. So we shall let her explain.
Well, first we must share that Hayek has herself a pet owl named Kering, who recently joined Hayek on her shoot for PEOPLE's 2021 Beautiful Issue. Which was already surprising, and then she offered up the following —“You won't believe this. I do meditate with the owl very, very often," admitting she keeps her relaxed.
"The minute I go deep into meditation, she stays super still," Hayek continued. Besides joining Hayek almost every day in her meditation room for some companionship and breathing exercises, Salma shared the two also share meals, watch TV on Hayek's iPad, and more. "Just being in the same room with her, there's an energy to it, and it is mesmerizing.”
Hey look, it’s oddly unexpected, but there’s absolutely zero judgment here. Everyone’s mental health journey and mission to achieve calmness is uniquely their own. And whether it’s through the companionship of a human or an owl, or any other animal for that matter, it’s important to know - you are not alone.
