History was made as the Miss Texas USA pageant over the weekend.
At 71-years-old, Marissa Teijo from El Paso took the stage in Houston as the oldest contest to ever compete in the pageant!
Teijo didn't take the crown, though.
Per NBC News, last year's Miss Dallas winner Aarieanna Ware was named Miss Texas at the ceremony on Saturday and will move on to compete in the Miss USA competition.
Teijio took to Instagram to show her appreciation for the chance to compete, with hopes that her journey would "inspire women to strive to be their best physical and mental self and believe there is beauty at any age."
