When you’re digging around your pocket for some change, make sure you don’t confuse a penny with a piece of gold.
Governor Abbott recently signed a bill that makes gold and silver legal tender for daily transactions in Texas!
According to Newsweek, House Bill 1056 will allow the Texas comptroller to establish an electronic payment systems for gold and silver held in the state depository.
So those that have gold and silver will not actually have to carry around their gold and silver but rather use digital systems that represents their holdings.
The bill will go into effect on May 1, 2027.
