Growing up, we always heard that having a bowl of cereal in the morning was always part of a "complete and balanced breakfast."

For some health advocates, the sweet treat just isn't healthy enough.

According to Chron, in a meeting last week, the Texas state Senate Committee on Health and Human Services discussed banning certain foods from Texas schools because they contain harmful ingredients that aren't found in their international counterparts.

One of these foods is Froot Loops, as the Canadian version doesn't have the ingredients found in the U.S. version.  So for Jason Karp, founder and CEO of private holding company HumanCo., which invests in healthy-living enterprises such as the restaurant True Food Kitchen, the solution is to ban all Kellogg's products from being offered in Texas schools.

Karp said, "It's a travesty that a majority of Americans don't even know they are constantly exposed to thousands of ingredients that are actually banned or regulated in other countries.

"We need your help to stop this madness, and our great state of Texas should take a stand by banning Kellogg and other anti-American companies from our public institutions like schools and the military."
