Van Halen fans have been arguing for years about which version of the band is best. While some fans prefer the original lineup featuring David Lee Roth, others prefer the version led by Sammy Hagar. It is a debate that will be argued for years to come, and now the band’s drummer has even weighed in.
Alex Van Halen was recently asked about each singer’s impact on the band. While Van Halen spoke of the “strange chemistry” the brothers had with Roth, he couldn’t go without praising Hagar as well, saying he has a “great rhythmic sense and of course that voice.” However, there seems to be a bond between Van Halen and Roth, as the drummer pointed out in the interview “we grew up together.”
Sadly, there will be no new entries into the debate, as after Eddie Van Halen passed away in 2020; neither singer will be fronting the band again. Still, fans will continue to debate which is their favorite. Maybe Alex Van Halen’s opinion will change some views.
