Arlington announces plans for entertainment district transit system

The city is looking into both short term and long term plans

With Taylor Swift at AT&T Stadium over the weekend, and the start of the Texas Rangers season, the Arlington Entertainment District had arguably its busiest weekend yet. While there was plenty of activity happening all weekend, the one downside was all the traffic it caused. Now, as the city continues to grow, the Arlington mayor has announced plans to create a transit system to help ease travel to and from Dallas and Fort Worth.

The Arlington Entertainment District is quickly becoming one of DFW's greatest attractions, and as the area continues to grow, so does the need for public transportation. With more people traveling to Arlington from the downtown areas of Dallas and Fort Worth than ever before, Mayor Jim Ross recently revealed the city is looking at both short term and long term plans to ease traveling. "I'm convinced we have to have some high-speed rail or something similar in fashion that helps us with the ingress and egress of people coming in and out of Arlington," said Ross.

According to WFAA, the idea has been in the works for a few years, but the city is now ready to move forward with their five-to-10-year mass transportation plan. "It doesn't happen overnight it's a very costly project and we're just now finishing the environmental phases of that project," said Ross. Soon, getting to Arlington for an event could be a lot easier for everyone in the metroplex.
