As the lead singer of Journey, Arnel Pineda has performed ‘Don’t Stop Believin’’ more than any other song, yet apparently it wasn’t always his favorite. Pineda, who took over singing duties in 2007, recently claimed the beloved song wasn’t his first choice when he first became a fan of Journey. According to the singer, he was actually introduced to the group thanks to the song, ‘Open Arms.’
With ‘Don’t Stop Believin’’ being inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame this year, Arnel Pineda was recently asked about the song’s impact, and his answer surprised many fans. While he said he started his singing career with ‘Open Arms,’ Pineda claimed ‘Don’t Stop Believin’’ became very special to him later on. “This song has been waiting for me to realize that it was the soundtrack of my life,” said Pineda.
2021 is set to be a big year for Journey, as the band recently went through a lineup change, adding Narada Michael Walden, Randy Jackson and Jason Derlatka. This inspired them to get back in the studio for the first time since 2011. Of course, there will be plenty of ‘Don’t Stop Believin’’ played, so it’s a good thing Pineda learned to love it.
