A number of cars have reached icon status over the years thanks to their use in movies in television. However, in most cases it’s the fictional attributes of the car that appeals to fans. The DeLorean from ‘Back to the Future’ could time travel, while K.I.T.T from ‘Knight Rider’ could talk. However, for car aficionados nothing can top the 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am used in ‘Smokey and the Bandit,’ and now one lucky fan will get to have it all to themselves.

It was announced recently that the iconic car used by Burt Reynolds in ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ will be sold during Barrett-Jackson’s upcoming 2022 Scottsdale Auction. The vehicle, which was previously owned by Reynolds, appears as it did in the film, as the car’s previous owner hand-painted “Bandit” on the doors and refreshed the gold striping and lettering. According to Bro Bible, the vehicles next owner will receive an autographed copy of Burt Reynolds’ autobiography, a vintage 70s Trans Am jacket, the “Bandit” cowboy hat and a special engraved plate in the driver’s door that verifies the existence of this one-of-a-kind car.

Of course, the car’s film history isn’t the only benefit, as the 1977 Pontiac Firebird has become one of the most beloved muscle cars of all-time. Those hoping to be the car’s next owner can place a bid on Barrett-Jackson’s website. Just make sure to avoid high speed chases once on the road.
