There are many people that once they find a dish at a restaurant they like, they stick with it forever. For a number of fans of the restaurant Chili’s, that top menu item was the Original Chicken Crispers. However, it was recently announced that the DFW-based chain removed the popular item from the menu, causing an uproar online and a petition to have them brought back.
Social Media was buzzing this week with reaction from Chili’s customers angry that a classic menu item was removed. The Original Chicken Crispers had been a staple of the chain since the 1990’s, but have now been dropped in favor of a new chicken strip option. According to Dallas Morning News, the menu item named the Crispy Chicken Crisper got higher sales, causing the chain to drop the original version.
While sales may have been higher, dedicated fans of the Original Chicken Crispers quickly took to social media to voice their displeasure, with one commenter calling it “the worst day of my life.” Now a petition has been started hoping to bring the dish back. Hopefully Chili’s gives the people what they want, or else they may lose some loyal customers.
