Drivers on Central Expressway in Dallas, you might want to pump the brakes a little.
The Dallas City Council recently voted to lower the speed limit along a portion of 75 after an investigation by NBC DFW highlighted the dangerous speeds and speed-related crashes on the highway.
The speed on 75 from Mockingbird Lane to Woodall Rodgers Freeway will be reduced from 70 mph to 65 mph. The Texas Department of Transportation will begin installing new speed limit signs soon, at which the new speed will become enforceable.
TxDOT increased the speed from 65 to 70 mph nine years ago, believing that higher speeds would help reduce congestion in the area.
