Ask most anyone around you, and they will have something to say about e-scooters in Dallas. And we're guessing what they have to say isn't in the most positive light.
Unfortunately, there's more bad news for scooter haters, as Dallas city officials are currently considering a rule change that would bring MORE e-scooters downtown.
According to the Dallas Morning News, when the e-scooter program was relaunched back in May, rules were set in place to allow no more than 25%, or 375 of the 1,500 available scooters to be in downtown Dallas, Uptown, and Deep Ellum; the rest would be spread out around the city.
However, city officials have received complaints about the lack of scooters in the downtown area and want to amend that rule to allow 30% to 35% of the scooters to be place in downtown.
One of the key issues facing this rule change is the fact that pedestrians ride the scooters on the sidewalk, which is illegal. Several council members will not approve of the rule change until vendors Lime, Bird and Superpedestrian, did more to address these concerns.
