With the Dallas Art Fair coming to town this weekend, one of DFW’s most iconic pieces of art is getting a new look. 'The Eye' sculpture in downtown Dallas has been turned into a “surreal fantasy land” that can be described as “Candyland, meets Little Shop of Horrors, meets Willy Wonka." The public event is open to all ages and is the perfect spot to take an internet worthy photo.
On Friday, Headington Companies will debut “EYEBORETUM,” a previously private event that is open to the public for the first time. Artists have been working to give ‘The Eye’ a new look that features giant mushrooms, lemons, corn cobs and pineapples, solar-powered butterflies and mini eyeballs.
According to NBC DFW, the event run from Friday, April 21, through Sunday, April 23 with tickets costing $10 for adults and free for anyone under 12.
“This is a really special occasion to open the gates and let everyone come in and get up close,” said Headington Companies Chief Marketing Officer Jeny Bania. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Dallas Art Fair Foundation's programs for children. For one weekend only, ‘The Eye’ will be seeing a totally new world.
