Over the last few years, DFW has become one of the most popular places to live in the US as people continue moving to the Lone Star State in masses. Not only is the metroplex great for living, apparently it has now become a travel destination as well. According to a new list recently released, Dallas has the 5th most hotel rooms under currently under construction in the US.
In a recent survey of major cities, done by hospitality analytics provider STR, it was found that as of July 1 Dallas has 5,028 hotel rooms under construction. The only cities ahead of Dallas on the list are; New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Las Vegas. According to Dallas Culture Map there are multiple new hotels expected to open in Dallas next year.
“While the number of rooms under construction continues to decline year over year, those in final planning have actually increased for two consecutive months,” said Carter Wilson, senior vice president of consulting at STR. If all 5,028 rooms are completed, that would equate to 35 upscale hotels being built in the area. Soon enough DFW will be begging people to leave.
