There are only a handful of states where alligators are found, and they are all in the south. Usually Florida and Louisiana are the states most commonly associated with alligator encounters, but sometimes a handful of other states get the occasional gator sighting as well. However, a new state can now be added to the list after a deer hunter in Minnesota recently shot an alligator.
Cory Klocek was recently hunting deer in East Bethel, Minnesota when he shockingly encountered a three foot alligator near a pond. “That’s not something you see and then I thought ‘Maybe its rubber, its fake’ and then he moved. I said ‘Nope that’s a real live alligator in Minnesota in November,’” said Klocek. After contacting the game warden to make sure he could shoot the alligator, Klocek was able to add the rare find to his collection for the day.
His Facebook post showing off his hunt has since gone viral, being shared over 49,000 times. “No clue how it got there, or why… either way, only in 2020 can you go out to sit for deer gun season opener in Minnesota and shoot an alligator,” said Klocek. Hopefully more alligators don’t start popping up in places they don’t belong.
