Any activity that involves wearing a helmet usually comes with people refusing to wear the head protector for safety. Excuses like the look of the helmet, or lack of comfort while wearing it are common when people are questioning whether they should protect themselves from injury. This is definitely the case for many cyclists, which is why Denmark recently put out a public service announcement; reminding cyclists that even Vikings wore helmets.

In the hilarious viral video released this week by the Danish Road Safety Council, a Viking named Svend gets his group ready to sail to England in the year 893. However, the rally is interrupted by the Vikings son, reminding him he needs to wear a helmet. While Svend tries to come up with any excuse to not wear the helmet, the child and the rest of his team let him know the helmet is necessary.

According to AV Club, the video ends with the message “Helmets have always been a bright idea” on the screen. The video was shared this week, and quickly went viral worldwide. Now, cyclists all over the globe will know they should be wearing a helmet like the Vikings did.
