For as many steps as self-driving vehicles take forward, they seem to take two steps back.
A company originally from Estonia now based in Fort Worth is looking to correct the mistakes that have been made and make self-driving delivery vehicles a natural part of life.
Clevon has been making local deliveries in the Northlake community since July, though in the coming months are looking to expand their services all across the Metroplex. Eventually, they want to launch a national network of self-driving delivery vehicles.
Sander Sebastian Agur, Clevon's CEO and co-founder, told NBC DFW, "Our on-demand electric vehicle is working as a robot courier. There's a shortage of drivers and the ever-increasing cost of last-mile delivery, which is what technology can solve today."
Clevon says they will be expanding into Denton in the next three months, and the city of Arlington is now launching a pilot program to use these vehicles for food bank deliveries.
