There have been many business closures over the last few years that have shook DFW, but for some; none came as a bigger gut punch than the closing of Lizard Lounge and the Church in Dallas. Now, one of their former patrons is trying to give the club the ending it deserved. The filmmaker is attempting to make a documentary about Lizard lounge and is asking for help from other fans of the beloved club.

For years, Lizard Lounge and the Church gave DFW a place to not only listen to music, but also a place where they may possibly run into a celebrity. However, after closing their doors for good in 2020, many of their loyal patrons have been forced to find somewhere new. Now, filmmaker Austin Hayes is trying to revitalize the club’s memory through a documentary.

According to Dallas Observer, the film is titled ‘Dark Sanctuary: The Story of the Church’ and the team is currently asking for donations through their IndieGoGo campaign. “I would say that we chose a very appropriate title with Dark Sanctuary because it felt like the Lizard Lounge was a sanctuary for so many people. Not only could they go to escape but they could be,” said Hayes. Now, many in DFW are hoping they don’t somehow end up in this film.
