Dallas-Fort Worth named the 4th best winter vacation spot in the U.S.

DFW has a very tumultuous relationship with cold weather.  Some like the nice break from the 100-degree days we have in the summer.  But some would argue is that break worth it when the entire city gets shut down for a week because of Icemageddon?

Somewhere in between the extreme heat and extreme cold can make for a pretty pleasant experience though and has earned DFW a pretty high ranking in the best winter vacation spots in the country.

A new report from WalletHub analyzed 70 of the biggest U.S. metropolitan areas to find the best winter destinations in the country.  Based on 37 factors, including travel costs, local costs, weather predictions, and safety, they found Dallas-Fort Worth to be the 4th best winter vacation spot in the nation!

The report cited that the Metroplex had "the fourth-lowest travel cost and hassles, much of which can be owed to the busy (but highly efficient) Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport."

The top ten best winter spots included:

No. 1 – Las Vegas-Henderson-Paradise, Nevada
No. 2 – San Diego-Chula Vista-Carlsbad, California
No. 3 – Austin-Round Rock-Georgetown, Texas
No. 4 – Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, Texas
No. 5 – San Antonio-New Braunfels, Texas
No. 6 – Charleston-North Charleston, South Carolina
No. 7 – San Francisco-Oakland-Berkeley, California
No. 8 – Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land, Texas
No. 9 – Phoenix-Mesa-Chandler, Arizona
No. 10 – Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, California
