Every day people from around the country are packing up and moving to Texas, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Whether it’s a company relocating to Texas, the chance to find a new job or ability to start a new business, job opportunity seems to be the leading reason for Texas’ recent population increase. Now, a new report has revealed DFW added more than 290,000 jobs over the last year, tripling their typical annual gain.

The last few years were rough for many, as a large number of people around the country were out of work. However, things have picked up quite a bit, especially in North Texas where new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows a growth of 294,700 jobs over the past 12 months.
According to Dallas Morning News, only the New York and Los Angeles metro areas added more workers in the past year.

“We’re still gonna see strong growth for a while. It’s been primarily driven by the migration of companies and people,” said Adam Perdue, an economist with the Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University. DFW also ranked second in job growth rate, only behind Las Vegas. Based on these numbers, it seems the metroplex will only keep growing.
