Seeing construction on North Texas roads is already pretty common, but thanks to a new statewide plan even more construction could be on the way. It was recently announced that DFW will receive $11.5 billion to fix roadways as part of Texas’ $142 billion transportation infrastructure plan. The plan is expected to affect roads in Collin County, Dallas County, Kaufman County and Denton County.
Texas will soon embark on their record setting investment into fixing roads throughout the state. According to WFAA, the $142 billion plan includes the unanimous adoption of the $100 billion, 10-year plan with TxDOT for transportation projects. “Through this record transportation investment project, the State of Texas will further improve roadway congestion and safety to meet the growing needs of Texans in our large metros, rural communities and everywhere in between,” said Gov. Greg Abbott.
Some of the $11.5 billion allotted for DFW is already planned such as $288 million toward additional projects along U.S. 380 in Collin County and $524 million to fund the reconstruction of I-30 Canyon between I-35E and I-45 in Dallas County. While this plan means more construction in DFW, at least the end result will be worth the wait.
