It started with a simple traffic stop when Harris County officials witnessed a man driving an e-bike through a red light at the intersection of Antoine Drive and West Mount Houston Road in Houston just before 4am yesterday morning.
It ended with a SWAT negotiation.
The 52-year-old suspect began resisting officers after being stopped in a Walgreens parking lot. Though a taser was deployed…twice…the man was able to flee on foot, running through backyards and jumping fences before he ended his escape on top of a roof of a home that was not his.
SWAT members started communicating with the man around 5:30am, with the conversation being “peaceful,” according to KHOU.
Officials were able to talk the suspect down from the roof, and he was placed under arrest without further incident.
The man did not explain to officers why he ran. He is facing charges of evading arrest.
