There are a number of reasons one’s flight might be delayed. Most of the time it’s due to the weather it seems or some sort of mechanical issue.
Passengers walking through the gate for a recent American Airlines flight from Dallas to Monterey, California however were told to suddenly turn back and walk the other way, by the pilots no less.
Apparently, they locked themselves out of the cockpit.
According to a post on Reddit, maintenance had to crawl through the plane’s window in order to unlock it from the inside.
According to Chron, the problem was due to a malfunctioning latch, and the pilot later joked that they "lubed it up real good."
The flight was delayed for about an hour.
