As younger generations grow up and have kids, what constitutes a baby name falls in the range now of a beloved character from a video game or cartoon.

However, the Dallas Morning News recently put out a list of the top baby names in Texas in 2025, and Master Chief and Ash Ketchum have yet to make the list. This year.
The tops boys’ names in the Lone Star State in 2025 were:
1 – Liam
2 – Noah
3 – Mateo
4 – Santiago
5 – Sebastian
6 – Elijah
7 – Oliver
8 – Elias
9 – Levi
10 – Julian
And the top girls’ names included:
1 – Emma
2 – Olivia
3 – Isabella
4 – Mia
5 – Sophia
6 – Camilla
7 – Amelia
8 – Sofia
9 – Eliana
10 – Ailany
Sophie Kihm, a baby name expert and editor-in-chief of Namesberry, said that “Regional name trends tell stories about demographics,” and noted that names like Emma, Liam, and Olivia, work well across multiple cultures and languages and have started “dominating” the country’s top 10 lists in recent years.
